Hammarby IF FF was one of 123 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Oktoberpokalen 2016. They participated with three teams in P07 Svår/Extra Svår, P05 Lätt/Medel and P04 Extra Svår (Inbjudningsklass) respectively. The team in P04 Extra Svår (Inbjudningsklass) made it to the the Bronze match in Slutspeland won it over FC Djursholm by 5-3.

In addition to this, Hammarby IF FF have participated in Oktoberpokalen before. During Oktoberpokalen 2015, Hammarby had 4 teams playing in P06 Svår/Extra Svår, P05 Svår/Extra Svår, P04 Svår/Extra Svår (7-manna) and P04 Lätt/Medel respectively. The team in P04 Svår/Extra Svår (7-manna) made it to the the Final in B-Slutspel, but lost it against Enebybergs IF by 3-5.

Hammarby comes from Johanneshov which lies approximately 12 km from Djursholm, where Oktoberpokalen takes place. The area around Johanneshov does also provide 104 additional clubs participating during Oktoberpokalen 2016 (Among others: Täby FK, Nacka FC, IFK Vaxholm, Djurgårdens IF FF 7, Saltsjöbadens if, Hanvikens SK, Apollon Solna FK, Stureby SK, Jarlabergs IF and FC Boo).
